Macau GP 2025...
I have now the difficult Task to put into words a Week i can't imagine to forget ..
It was glorious, to say it simply, especially now as the restrictions that were upon all participants throughout the Covid Years are gone, the whole city is back to normal.. Policemen are much more relaxed and the general vibe is back to 2018/2019 ish
But Macau GP has also grown throughout these last 5 years, interest is up internationally, Brands know that for the Chinese Motorsport and Automotive Market Macau GP is an gigantic Shopping Window where you present your Brand, your knowledge, your Business.
ROWE for example.. I have in no way any Data, but this relatively small Oil Brand ( compared to some other Big Oil Brands that are present) was the most supported Team among Marshals and all the local People that have an interest in Motorsport.. maybe it's because of them driving in a BMW ( BMW is still king in Macau, XIAOMI headhunted a BMW Manager to push their Brand in Europe.. and the combination of Luxury and Sport is very attractive to all my chinese friends.. except Tony, who is a 100% Mercedes guy.
Arriving at Macau after 2 days in Hong Kong you also see how quickly the city changes.. no one takes the Ferry anymore, except me,.. and the districbutors for SIM Cards are basically gone at the Ferry Terminal, the way to go is e-sim nowadays. Taipa is growing and growing.. but all around the old portuguese enclave.. China and Zhuhai is not growing.. it is exploding.. the difference from 2024 to 205 is so visible.. and China is clearly pushing the 3 city Future : Hong-Kong as the financial, Macau as the Entertainement and Guangzhou as the shipping/trade Centre. In laiment Terms :the old Canton ( Guangdong) Province will become this 3 headed multicity, more than a Gateway to China, it will probably shine as the Number 1 Centre of the World in 100 years time.
Now for the GP itself.. as you follow me here and on various Social Media, you know i am a GT person through and through.. and you need to focus to your general clientèle as this coming together of
the Top GT, Formula and touringcar series is breathtaking.
I followed the Formula 4 for their Insurer, Gullwing, the GT4 for the GT World Challenge Asia GT 4 winners Toyota and of course the Series where i have all my friends working and driving, the FIA GT World Cup.
To quickly talk about the 2 Elephants.. one in the room, the other not ... Mercedes missing out made me a little Sad, they surely have their Reasons, but not putting Maro in even a single Car to give him a Chance to defend..well..
Well maybe they knew about the other elephant : the AF Corse Ferrari in the current BOP situation was unbeatable.. he probably was already in 2024.. but 2 hotblooded Italians -- oh well you have seen the footage.
To go back to my ROWE Statement at the Start.. the locals also say that Raffaele Marciello is hands down the best Macau GT Driver and a lot of Marshals are die-hard Lello Fans.. sending multiple of their family members to queue at the SPARK Stands for the Lello Miniature Helmet.. in all the Years i come to Macau GP.. it's Edo, who was then overtaken by Maro and now it is Lello.
Talking about italians and doing italian things.. I was amazed that we didn't have a more crazy Start on Sunday with a Belgian italian, a Swiss Italian and an Ferrari-Italian in 1,2,3. The Tempo Porsche of Alessio could have, should have been up there..
but as i spend the Days with my new friend Lukas Gajewski who after 3 laps told me that Fuoco had a 4 second lead.. i ain't sure that even the perfectly tuned Porsche could have been following that.. as i said: Ferrari-elephant.
Antonio surely offered Ferrari their first World Cup Title in an absolute dominating manner, but for 2026 we want Mercedes back and some closer Racing.
Here are my absolute Favorite Shots, my Album made possible by Nikki and Melanie from PR-Plus and their continued Support of the Motorsport Media People from all around the World.. and the SRO, especially Lauren and Ben that make this event for what it is since many Years..
