I had been working at the DTM during the Class 1 Era and haven't been back in ages, so i was more than curious this Weekend when they came
to my Home Circuit
in full GT3 specc with all the German Top Teams competing around the little GP track.
Little because it only used the "Kurzanbindung" Version.. but you know what.. it all worked .
The current DTM is wonderfully organized and made working there a Bliss. And with the Shorter Version it made the Sprint Format compact and
available.
From the Spectators you could also just get positive Feedback, and the warm yet not too warm weather made for a family friendly
Experience.
The Paddock was packed and there were many other activities to experience, brands ( and the Bundeswehr) could present themselves
perfectly,
As for us, the Photographers, the little Layout made it more difficult to gather "eifel" like pictures that people associate with the
Nürburgring, as the GP track is dominated by metal structures and, lets be honest, nothing is really green right now. The smoke from the Hürtgenwald fire came over on Saturday afternoon and hazed the
skies to make for a Blade Runner look.
All in all i was sceptic before but this DTM feels much more like the DTM i experienced as a teenager in the "golden Era" and i truely hope
the kids now have so much keen and happy memories in the Future about this goldne GT3 Era.
The only thing that needs to be changed is the qualifying format .. that 10 minute wait to heat the tyres in the pits is as boring as
watchign paint dry.
Here are my favourites of a wonderful and relaxed Weekend
and thanks to Jonas, Axel and Daniel for all your help
